The New York City Marathon


In the article New York City that you read in the coursebook there are many different sides of the New York City presented. With the following tasks you will focus on the greatest sport event in the city: the New York Marathon and do some tasks connected with it.





YOUR TASKS


TASK 1:

Set up a blog

Go to http://www.blogger.com/home sign up with your google account and create your blog.




























TASK 2:

You would like to apply for the New York Marathon in 2011. Go to

http://www.ingnycmarathon.org/entrantinfo/apply.htm

and write on your blog entry requirements that you would have to fulfill in order to apply for the marathon, provided you are over 18 on the day of the qualifying race. Consider the following entry requirements:

- age

- application deadline

- qualifying time standards

- entry fee (non- U.S. Residents) (including processing fee)

Why all entry applications cannot be accepted? How will acceptances be determined?

Who is ellegible for guaranteed entry?

How can an international runner apply?


TASK 3:

In Slovenia the most famous marathon takes place in October in Ljubljana. Go to

and compare it to the NYC Marathon. Use the table below to support your decision and post a short justification to your blog.

to see the map of the course for 2010. Post brief directions for the course of the marathon in 2010 to your blog.
